>Interview: RedrobR>by Dark Typhoid Dave

R>1. How did you come up with your user name? R>R> Well, I wanted something that was sounded comics related but not tied to a specific character. Plus, I am red-headed. Actually, closer to orange-headed, but let's not go there! It's also a play on my name, which has been classified. R>R>R> 2. What are your interests? R>R> Wouldn't you like to know? Well, you would like to know, or you wouldn't have asked, I guess. I am very interested in old cars, mostly old Buicks and Pontiacs since that is what my brother collects. We were just at the Pontiac national show with my brother's 1968 Pontiac GTO convertible, what a blast that was! I am also an assistant coach for my son's t-ball team, and committee chairman for my son's cub-scout pack. I have a comics collection that is way too large for typical humans, and I also read a lot of science fiction and detective novels. In college I ran a Marx Brothers film club, and I have a major weakness for old movies. R>R>R> 3. How did you get involved in the banking industry? R>R> The idiots hired me! I took business administration in college, and I just drifted into the finance and banking industry. Banking today isn't empty dark suits, it is casual dress and dealing with things like corporate travel credit cards and direct computer-to-computer business payments. Assuming I don't get laid off, banking is a great place to be. R>R>R> >4. Where do you live, and what do you like about it? R>R> I live in the mid-western US, and enjoy the full theatre of seasons. Yes, that includes hot summers and very cold and snowy winters, and I wouldn't have it any other way! Home life is a constant game of what has to be fixed next, but I can live with that. R>R>R> 5. You're a regular at Parent Island. How is fatherhood? R>R> Fatherhood is a strange journey. My son is a joy and a trial, a treat and a terror, a total pain in the ass and the best thing in my life, yada yada yada I am sure you have heard these kind of cliches before, it's true. Most of the time I feel like a rank amateur at parenting, but everything usually works itself out. Once in a while something comes up and I wonder 'what the hell was that?' like watching my son hitting a tree with a wiffle-bat for no good reason, like him hugging me while I am writing this. R>R>R> 6. What about changing nappies? R>R> Well, he gave up naps at 18 months. Oh, diapers, right? You Aussies! Have any parents ever said that their own kid's mess doesn't stink? DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT!!! I changed my share, when I couldn't avoid it. I have also been peed in the face, sometimes fatherhood isn't pretty. R>R>R> 7. Any more kids planned for the future? R>R> Aahh, no. We haven't decided if we like this one yet! R>R>R> 8. Who is your role model, and why? R>R> Since my own father is more of an example of how I don't want to do anything, I guess I would have to say my Grandfather. This is a man who always has a smile on his face and some thing nice to say, and is always happy with what he has. I hope that I am as well adjusted-and alive-at age 95 like he is. R>R>R> 9. Carmen Elektra once or Pamela Andersen Lee twice? R>R> How about one from column A and one from column B? R>R>R> 10. Favourite Ben and Jerry's flavour? R>R> I will take whatever I can get!! Chunky Monkey or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, whichever I had last. R>R>R> 11. What is your favourite music? R>R> I am partial to jazz and big bands. Lately I have listened to a lot of N'Sync and Backstreet Boys because my son is still young and stupid enough to listen to them all the time. R>R>R> 12. What CDs have you listened to recently? R>R> I don't listen to a lot of music. The Beatles "One", Brian Setzer Orchestra "The Dirty Boogie" and a local band called "The Power of Ten" R>R>R>13. Folder or scruncher? R>R> Whatever happened to the old 'Boxers or Briefs' question? R>R>R>14. Are you reading any comics at the moment? R>R> Not a lot, but I am really enjoying the new Green Arrow series and JLA:Incarnations and the Stan Lee series. R>R>R>15. Where would you like to visit most in the world? R>R> I would love to take a month off and take a tour of Europe, or a search for my roots in Russia. R>R>R> 16. If you were being chased in the jungle by a hungry tiger, who pinned you to the ground and was about to bite your head off, what would be your last thought? R>R> "Nice dental work" R>R>R> 17. If there was one person in the world you would most like to meet, who would it be? R>R> Since I am interested in the WWII era, either Franklin Roosevelt or Winston Churchill. R>R>R> 18. ....and where would you go for a midnight snack with him or her? R>R>R> FDR--there is a great burger joint around here called "Convention Grill" Best burgers, onion rings and malts around! R> Churchill--A local British pub and restaurant called "Sherlock's Home" sounds just right! R>R>R> 19. What is the most amusing thing in the world? R>R> I can find humor in a lot of things, the most amusing thing in the world is whatever make me laugh just now. Marx Brothers films, silly office cartoons, the manor, whatever. R>R>R> 20. Thought for the day? R>R> Don't ask me for a thought of the day at 6 pm on a Friday night, I don't have any thoughts left!
